The WxPC V is a very small, power efficient computer. Because of its ultra low power consumption, it is fanless, silent, and generates very little heat. Configured with an internal hard drive, it is nearly silent, as we've selected a very quiet, cool running drive. The WxPC V is small enough that it can be mounted on the back of LCD monitors having the VESA mounting holes. The computer is designed with this in mind, and includes mounting hardware. The WxPC V's mounting holes can also be used to mount it to a wall or under a desk.

The WxPC V comes ready to plug in and run. The standard configuration includes a 5 volt power adapter, 4GB Compact Flash, PCLinuxOS, 512MB RAM, and CPU. It does not include monitor, speakers, keyboard or mouse. Combined PS/2 mouse/keyboard port requires a splitter cable for use with PS/2 mouse and keyboard. SoftWx offers a splitter cable tested and verified to work with the WxPC V. This computer does not have serial (RS232) ports, but SoftWx offers an inexpensive USB to RS232 adapter which can be used to connect serial devices to the WxPC V.

The WxPC V is ideal for 24x7 operation where power consumption can add up over time. Attached to a LCD monitor, it makes a great minimal impact device for web browsing, email, etc.

Note: Microsoft licensing restrictions allow us only to ship the Windows version of the WxPC V within the USA and Canada. Licensing restrictions also prohibit us (or any PC seller) from selling a computer with Windows installed on externally accessible media. To accomodate this requirement, Windows will be installed on an internal CF card, not in the externally accessible CF slot. We will soon have a document available with tips for running XP from a CF card with the best results.
