This adapter lets you to connect RS232 serial devices to a computer's USB 1.0 or USB 2.0 port. Like many of these type of adapters, this has male thumbscrews. We also include two female-female 6mm hex nuts so you can securely attach a variety of cable configurations to the adapter. Because the adapter uses the popular Prolific chipset, the device will be auto-detected, and drivers installed automatically on Windows XP(tm) and Windows Vista(tm). A mini-cd with drivers is also included.

 

For our customers using Davis Vantage Pro weather stations, we have tested this adapter with the Davis serial data logger, and verified that this adapter works great with that device.

 

We have not tested this with Linux yet, but since it uses the Prolific chipset, for which there are Linux drivers, we expect it will work on that platform.
